Second day of the championship for Calcio Eccellenza, which on Sunday morning faced Anagni at the Football Club. A challenge that sees us come out defeated but with our heads held high: the 0-2 final does not do us justice.<\/p>\n
The two teams studied each other in the beginning of the match, then Ledesma’s eleven was the first to make themselves dangerous with a nice shot of Greco, finished out by a little. Anagni, closed in defense, has been able, however, to respond in counterattack. Just on a ball thrown in the area, one of the opponents was landed: a foul action that cost a penalty. The shot from the penalty spot, however, was not converted by Anagni’s number 7, who shot to Borrelli’s right.<\/p>\n
The match went on with the same script: on a cross born from the umpteenth restart of Anagni, in the attempt to anticipate an adversary, Vilmercati deviated in his own net, putting the goalkeeper out of action and scoring an unlucky own goal.<\/p>\n
The second half, however, was one-sided: our boys created occasion after occasion, first with De Vincenzi’s header, then with a splendid razor-sharp shot by Vilmercati from the right, and again with De Vincenzi. The search for the goal is continuous but it is difficult to find spaces because of the low and compact defense of the opponents. From another long ball Anagni found the doubling goal with a shot that, after the impact with the crossbar, bounces just inside the goal line before being blocked by Borrelli. The goal was validated by the director of the match and the result was not released until the end of the match.<\/p>\n
Unlucky game for our team that, despite an excellent performance, were not able to reap the joy of a victory that would have been more than deserved. Soccer is also this and we hope that luck will smile on us next time. We prepare for the next race with grit and head up, because with performances of this level we can certainly take more than a few satisfaction!<\/p>\n
