The Luiss Sports Association<\/strong> welcomes Marcello Macioce<\/strong>, the new Padel master. A discipline that he loves and to which he will also make our student-athletes passionate. For the occasion, he told us a little more about the sport of the moment.<\/p>\n

Marcello, how do you explain the great success that padel is having?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Simple: it’s easy to learn and there’s a lot of social involvement, if the instructors know how to do their job well. In addition, there is a lot of interest from former footballers and VIPs that started in 2019, with the first edition of the Gillette Padel VIP Cup, which started a steady growth.<\/p>\n

How did you get started in padel?<\/strong><\/p>\n

One day, in 2016, a friend of mine suggested I go and play and from there I haven’t stopped.<\/p>\n

How are you preparing for the championship?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I try to instill in the boys passion, team spirit and awareness of their abilities to achieve the maximum goals. We train twice a week in groups of 4 and we do exercises to improve technique and learn tactics and game strategy.<\/p>\n

Many people believe that padel is for people who can’t play tennis. What are your thoughts on this?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Padel is a magical sport. The tennis player definitely has an advantage, but the technique is very different and coordination is very important.<\/p>\n

Can you introduce us to the Luiss team in a few words?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The team has 12 members: 4 girls and 8 boys. Wonderful people, very good, determined and with a great desire to get involved.<\/p>\n
