Riccardo Sabbadini: the student with skis on his feet
He wore the Luiss jersey in the last University Championship held in Zoldo: Riccardo Sabbadini has been skiing since he was three years old and has never stopped. Not even now that he is attending university
How did you start skiing? How did you get to competitive skiing?
I started skiing thanks to my parents’ passion for the sport. My first time on skis was when I was 3 years old. I remember that as a child I didn’t really like it, but as I got older, I became more and more passionate about it and at the age of 7 I joined a competitive team in Ovindoli. Skiing requires many sacrifices and renunciations and for this reason I have thought several times of quitting, but the more I grew the more passionate I became, and today I thank my parents every day for having pushed me to continue and not to give up in the face of these difficulties, because today I can say I am proud of my achievements.
What was the experience of the championship that just ended? How did it feel to compete in the Luiss jersey?
Thanks to Luiss I had the opportunity to participate in the Zoldo University Championship, a stimulating experience that allowed me to represent my university and to meet guys from different parts of the world.
What do your university friends and professors think about your sporting commitment? Do they support you?
My professors and classmates are very curious and supportive about my passion: it is also thanks to them that I am able to reconcile my university and athletic commitments.
How do you manage your study and skiing commitments? Do you have a particular method?
There is no particular secret: you have to be constantly committed and have a lot of willpower. After studying I can’t allow myself too many moments of relaxation because I have to get out on the slopes to train.
What advice would you give to those who would like to follow the same path as you?
The only advice I can give is to have fun because it’s the only way to face the efforts and sacrifices that skiing requires with motivation.
