Fencing World Cup: Giorgio Avola is on the podium!

The podium of the Fencing World Cup is tinged with blue: the world champion Foconi gives the encore of the first place, beating in the final Gerek Meinhardt for 15-12, and Giorgio Avola, Top Athletes LUISS, conquers a fantastic third place, after the defeat occurred with Gerek Meinhardt for 15-13.

The World Champion Foconi arrived in the final thanks to the success against the other U.S. rider Race Imboden for 15-12, giving continuity to a race course that had seen him, from number 1 of the scoreboard, exceed the debut for 15-8 the French Baptiste Mourrain and then to follow the Russian Grigoriy Semenyuk also in this case with a score of 15-8. In the round of 16 the Terni had been right about the other transalpine Jeremy Cadot for 15-11, before facing and overcome in quarters the darling of the house, Erwan Le Pechoux, defeated 15-7.

The path of our Top Athlete Giorgio Avola was not easy: in fact, at his debut he fought with the Hong Kong goalkeeper, Lee Yat Long, coming out winner for 15-12. Afterwards he was right to the Russian Askar Khamzin for 15-9 and then to the round of 16 of the American Sidarth Kumbla with a score of 15-5. By the quarterfinals the Fiamme Gialle foil player had won the Italian derby against Daniele Garozzo with a score of 15-12, thus stopping the Rio 2016 Olympics at the foot of the podium.
