B League basketball: Luiss loses in Palestrina but hits the playoffs

  • 28 March 2019

Luiss loses 92-69 in Palestrina’s house, second force of the national series B round D, but with 4 days to go she is sixth at 32 points and she gains the mathematical access to the playoffs.

The final score is deceptive because Paccariè’s boys play on equal terms for 30 minutes and pay for a final similar to that of Salerno in which the high physical effort and a sub-optimal condition of the whole roster create this gap in the score.

Bonaccorso plays a first quarter at Kevin Durant with 4 triples out of 4 and closes the first quarter with 14 points and Luiss 26-21 ahead. Ochoa and Rizzitiello start scoring and Palestrina returns to the race. Infante and Gellera fight under the canetro and bring important points.

In the second half Palestrina starts strong and Luiss remains in the wake with a dunk of Infante and the triples of Navarini and Martino.

A triple of Rischia brings Palestrina to +8 which is the maximum advantage. Paccariè streaks his own and 2 baskets of Martino bring Luiss back to 64-60.

In the last quarter Luiss pays the effort produced and suffers the strength of Palestrina. Rossi and Morici continue to score while Marcon and his teammates struggle to find winning solutions. Luiss skidded and closed a game played as a draw for 29 minutes under 23.

For a trip to China Luiss will move the home game against Matera scheduled for March 31 to April 14.
