Athletics, super Filippo Tortu in Rieti: 9.97” and (almost) Italian record

  • 29 May 2019

Filippo Tortu’s long-awaited seasonal debut was a success. At the “Fastweb Cup” in Rieti, our Top Athlete set a personal record by running 100 metres in 9.97″. The record, however, unfortunately is not homologable.

The too much wind (+2.4 m/s), in fact, does not allow the official result, which is still worth the gold medal. Second place went to Canadian Aaron Brown (10”buckets), third place for Frenchman Amaury Golitin in 10.11”.

It’s still a great performance, given the time trial never touched by an Italian sprinter. Filippo in 2018 was the first to fall below 10” and Rieti’s performance suggests that he can still improve.

We are convinced that this is the case: congratulations, champion!
