Basketball Serie B, victory with comeback in the debut against Valmontone

  • 2 October 2019

Good first, for Basketball B Series. Andrea Paccariè’s renewed Luiss presents itself with a beautiful and painful victory over Valmontone.

After having been under for most of the match against the team coached by Alex Righetti, our guys got the better of them in a final point to point.

Gellera and Infante sign the initial 6-2. The guests responded with a 10-0 peremptory thanks to the Casale-Bisconti duo. Valmontone makes the ball go well and finds the ways to the basket, then closing the first quarter on 26-19.

Luiss, on the other hand, pierced the net only with Infante, before the baskets of Pasqualin and Tamburini reduced the gap. At the end of the second stage the scoreboard reads 35-40.

The third quarter starts with a pro-Luiss inertia, but it is a game of chess, full of overtaking. Valmontone, in fact, does not give in, passes to zone and places the counterbreak of 8-0 that brings it back ahead.

Paccariè responds by putting the two little ones on the field and Luiss seems to find the square. The triples of Di Francesco and Navarini and the accelerations of Pasqualin and Infante gave back the advantage to our team, which reached 69-64.

But Valmontone still has gasoline and responds with a 5-0 that leads to the mini overtime.

Captain Martino, protagonist of 13 rebounds but not very productive in the realization phase up to that moment, scores the basket of +2 with one minute to go. The guests respond with 2 free and waste the chance to get back ahead. Tamburini finds 73-71 with a basket in speed, while Valmontone’s triples (and hopes) end up on the iron.

Luiss brings home a victory that gives morale even if there is something to improve on in the game.

Next match Sunday, October 6 in Nardò. Come on guys!
