Promotion Football, a knockout worth a win!

At first glance it might seem a defeat like many others, or rather, it would also seem fair, after many victories. We played an open-face match at Fabrizi di Morena, which saw several reversals, and finally the victory of the locals only at the end, with a goal by Muzzi.

Lupa Frascati thus won the three points in the internal match with our team, coached by coach Rambaudi, defeating it by 3-2.

But the field tells a different game, it tells a story of true love for football. The chronicle is simple, in the first half as usual De Vincenzi unlocks the result, then in the second half Cesaretti draws and Sebastiani brings the locals to the doubling. Again De Vincenzi drags LUISS on 2-2, but it is here that history takes the place of the chronicle, here that the ethical values embodied by the university team took the field: we talk about a gesture of true sportsman, that Mr. Rambaudi did not hesitate for a moment to make.

After De Vincenzi had scored the goal of 2-2 (in the minutes of extra time) recovering a ball that the opponent’s goalkeeper wanted to send in a lateral foul to allow the rescue of a companion, the coach asked his players to “suffer” the goal of the defeat.
“For me it was a spontaneous gesture, and I think unique, made with the conscience of a man of sport. I know that it wasn’t easy for the lads to accept it, because we played for first place in the standings and the draw would have been deserved”, our coach told the journalists.

But the result, for those who have played for so many years in Serie A and on the international stage, isn’t always everything. “I hope to see these gestures soon also on other fields: it would be right for the values that sport expresses. And it would also be nice to be able to educate everyone in this sense. And if there’s someone who doesn’t understand, patience”.
