Dual Career: goal achieved!

  • 5 July 2017

Sometimes a story can tell much more than slogans… so today we are going to tell you the story of Simone, to prove how we make your dreams come true and how the Dual Career is not utopia!

Simone Pozzetti is our pivot, 205 cm-tall, born in Ancona on October 25th, 1990. Before joining the BNL LUISS, he played in  Sandretto Falconara, Porto Sant’Elpidio, Recanati and Ancona, where he had his debut in the 3rd national league at only 16.

Last year Simone passed LUISS entry test and  joined LUISS sports program. Thanks to the scholarship he received, he attended a Master’s Degree in “Tourism and Territory: economics, marketing, eco-sustainability” at LUISS School of Government.

You are the role model for the possibility of pursuing together sports, academic and career goals: can you tell us how this adventure in LUISS has begun and what has driven you to join our big family?

Combining education and sports asks for strong willpower and setting priorities; practicing sports at competitive levels has fun and sacrifice, you must give up something to achieve the top.

The choice of studying and playing at LUISS stems from what said above, since LUISS gave me the chance of attending Master’s Degree in “Tourism and Territory, where I could improve the knowledge of my field of interest, while also keep playing in the B-league. How could I ask for more?

How was your sports path and how you integrated it in your studies?

My sports career has been characterized by several years in the National B League e 2 victories in the C1 championships. My beginning in the first team dates back to 2006 in Ancona, my hometown, and the following years I played in Porto Sant’Elpidio, Recanati e Falconara. Since I was enrolled at Macerata University I often refused to move playing out of Marche, my region, which sometimes I still regret, but I had other priorities at the time.

The only support I actually received was that of my family, I firmly believe that, apart from them, others are not there to help you but rather to use you. Nobody will ever be such honest and interested at your best as they are.

Lastly, tell us something about your work experience and how you realized the Dual Career even in Italy.

On 3rd July I am starting a stage in UVET, in Turin, I am so glad since it is an industry leader, although I wouldn’t mind a bit of relax.

Then, I’ll take this opportunity to sincerely thank the team, amazing guys who I wish the best for their future, and I am also grateful to SSD LUISS, and in particular to Paolo del Bene, Michelangelo Schiano and Andrea Fulgaro. Last but not least, I thank coach Paccariè for the patience and support.

I’ll keep you  in my heart!
