Basketball Serie B player Giorgio Di Bonaventura was a guest in recent days of the program “Quinto Quarto”. The program follows closely the group C of the basketball Serie B, where AS Luiss is inserted. Our basketball player had the opportunity to tell his story, both as an athlete and as a student. During the interview, Giorgio spoke about the Luiss context, demonstrating that he understood the values that the association wants to convey. In addition, he told how he reconciles the double commitment, talking about the differences compared to the environments of other teams.

“We practice twice a day, even at 8 a.m.. Then we stuff our books in our backpacks and go to class. Sometimes, it happens that I’m late to afternoon practice because classes end late,” he explained. One thing to put in context: “The coach and staff make you feel at home, they don’t make you feel like you have a busy day of studying. This is something that can only happen at Luiss and I am honored to have this opportunity. In addition to creating new players, the men and workers of tomorrow are also created here.”

The student-athlete went even deeper into the Luiss project: “I’ve really understood its value only now that I’m living it. The planning of this world makes you understand how much you have to work to play in this league and how important it is to study to grow as a man. I wanted to be a player but also to learn more and more, so the Luiss opportunity was perfect. The University has a sports system that involves a huge number of people who are inspired by the idea of playing at a high level, like in America”.

In conclusion, Di Bonaventura focused on the sports results: “We needed a shock and, in fact, we won three games in the last four. The merits are from everyone: from the staff to the last of my teammates. It’s true, we are very young but we can have our say in this round. The guys were great against Jesi and Giulianova: we got four points that give us morale.
