On Sunday, Dec. 11, Luiss Roma beats Pozzuoli 99-82 at home, honors Pasqualin’s 1,000 points in a Luiss jersey and flies to 16 points in the standings.
Paccariè’s team starts off on the right foot right away, placing two triples with Pasqualin and Fallucca and making it clear that they do not want to risk anything in the match against Pozzuoli. The opponents call time out at 25-12 for us.
The academics find points from Jovovic and Allodi and close ahead 29-19 in the first quarter.
In the second the course of the match does not change. Luiss makes the game and Pozzuoli tries to stay within striking distance. A triple by Zini and a putback by Jovovic bring Luiss to +19. Pozzuoli tries to fight back, but the first half ends 55-37 with a triple by Fallucca.
In the third quarter, Pasqualin stuffs two triples in a minute and thus scores the 1,000th point with Luiss. Coach Paccariè calls time out and a Palaluiss ovation arrives to celebrate the point guard who is handed a ball signed by the entire team by Scuderi – now an executive and one of the other four players to have reached 1,000 points in a Luiss jersey along with Infante, Beretta and Bonaccorso.
Luiss continues to distance itself from Pozzuoli bringing it to +25 and coach Paccariè gives minutes to Sean Busca and Marco Mastria who enter with the right approach in the classic garbage time.
Luiss thus closes 2022 at the Palaluiss with 6 wins out of 6 matches and prepares for the year-end big match scheduled for Sunday, December 18 at Sant’Antimo.
The next home game, however, will be Jan. 7, 2023 at 6 p.m. against Taranto.
