  • 3 April 2023

The 2022-2023 season of the AS Luiss BMW Roma Tennis Teams officially began on Sunday 26 March.

The first meeting of the season begins with the men’s team against Canottieri Lazio and the absolute debut for the players Gianmarco Gandolfi, Nicolò Paduano and Andrea Magliocca. The first, Gandolfi, as well as Luiss Top Athlete, wins his match 6-2, 6-2, even if with some initial uncertainty. The second match sees Saverio Trippetti, driver of the team last year, triumph 6-1, 6-4.
Easy game instead for Giacomo Russo, who in a short time gets rid of his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

Paduano, in his debut, finds some difficulty against an expert opponent, but he too manages to bring home a 6-4, 6-3 victory which allows us to face the doubles with a 4-0 result.

Couples still to be consolidated for Luiss BMW Rome Men’s Tennis: Gandolfi-Losito in fact encounter some difficulties in the first set, managing to snatch a 7-5 in extremis, which easily leads them to win the second set 6-1. Trippetti-Magliocca, also in their first match together, manage more easily to win thanks to a 6-3, 6-3.

The day therefore ends with a clear 6-0, which immediately brings AS Luiss BMW Roma Men’s Tennis first in the general classification.
An uphill start instead for the AS Luiss BMW Roma Women’s Tennis team, which in Rieti was defeated with the final score of 2-1. The first single, played by the second player of the Viola Angelini team, ends 4-6, 1-6 in favor of the opponent. After a hard fought first set in which Angelini doesn’t know how to take advantage of various opportunities, in the second she is forced to give up.
Too bad for the second singles, lost by Giorgia Fantini, in the third set after a fight that was decided only by two final points.
On the other hand, the doubles debut of Angelini-Dell’Omo was positive, who despite the disappointment of the defeat, manage to dominate their opponents and easily win in two sets 6-4, 6-3.

Positive Sunday halfway through the defeat of the women’s team. Now the concentration moves to next Sunday 2 April for the second day of the group, where our girls will try to win the first points and our boys to confirm the good sensations given in the first round!
