Giorgio Avola, the number 3 is the symbol of his perfect week!
For the Pythagorean School, the number 3 was considered as a perfect number; during the last week also Luiss University had the possibility to demonstrate this theory thanks to the results of his athlete-student Giorgio Avola who firstly obtained the maximum grade in the Mathematics Exam and then he won two medals during the Fencing World Cup in Paris (France) from 19th to 21th January: the bronze medal in the individual competition and the silver medal with all his team composed by Andrea Cassarà, Daniele Garrozzo and Alessio Foconi.
In the individual competition, Giorgio, protagonist of a brilliant tournament, had the best against Vitalijs Kuceba for 15-10 in the first round, against Alex Tofalides for 15-8 in the second round and against Jeremy Cadot for 15-10 in the third round; but the most important success arrived against the first player of the world ranking, Timur Safin, for 15-9 in the forth round, success that gave him the possibility to play in the semifinal against Alessio Foconi, the champion of the Paris World Cap.
Avola represents a very good example of athlete-student thanks to his ability to overcome difficulties with the aim to reconcile study with sport in the best way.
He lives every single day with lots of passion and determination, between trainings and lessons, because one of his goals is to fly. And in fact, as this aphorism underlines “It’s scientifically impossible for the bumblebee to fly; but the bumblebee, being unaware of these scientific facts, flies anyway” Giorgio Avola flies…and he flies so high!
