Basketball B series: the Luiss yields to Rieti

Luiss loses 77-59 on the difficult field of Rieti, second in the standings and a team built to rise.

Luiss gets off to a great start with a promising 5-0 run, sealed by Di Bonaventura’s triple. Rieti reacts as a great team and begins to demonstrate its value. Luiss’ offense goes in circles and Pasqualin and his teammates can no longer find the basket. The partial hurts and the quarter ends 19-5 for Rieti.

Legnini tries to give his team a jolt from 3, but it doesn’t last long because Rieti continues to hit and run 38-20. Luiss goes down 46-20, but Paccariè’s guys don’t want to go into the locker room without a concrete reaction, so Luiss starts playing its basketball and Jovovic brings Luiss back up to 52-38. At this point, the game is on and the Luiss keeps pace with Rieti. It’s 55-41 at rest.

Jovovic again brings Luiss down by 12 (57-45) but Timperi and Antelli put Rieti back in front and it controls the game until the final whistle.
