Race for the Cure in Rome, running against breast cancer!

Race for the Cure is the biggest event for the fight against breast cancer in Italy and in the world. This event is organized by Susan G. Komen Italia’s Association, that utilizes funds raised from the project to realize prevention programs in order to sustain women.

Friday 18 May and Sunday 20 May there are a lot of initiatives dedicated to health and wellness that are related to the Association’s partnership with LUISS, born from the will of the University to promote prevention and the adoption of healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

These initiatives want to sensitize young generations and spread the idea of wellness as a common thing to preserve, for personal wellbeing and for collectivity.

Friday, May 18, LUISS will be present at Villaggio Race set up at Circo Massimo for a day full of activities dedicated to health, sport and wellness, with direct stories from LUISS students regarding prevention.

For the occasion will intervene: Chiara Mormile, LUISS student and excellence of LUISS Sport Academy project; Elena Grazioli, LUISS student and volunteer at Casa della Mamma; Maria Laura Stronati and Anna Stella Dolcetti, LUISS students at LUISS Business School and participants of Progetto GROW. To moderate the stories, Stefano Attili, Responsible for the orientation and entrepreneurship LUISS.

Sunday, May 20, LUISS team will run for 5 Km the Race for the Cure, the biggest event for the fight against breast cancer in Italy.

LUISS Sport Association will participate with a team of runners, the first 100 winners in the non competitive run IULIA RUN, the first run born from the joined will of LUISS Sport Association and Liceo Classico Statale Giulio Cesare, with the collaboration of Municipal Hall Rome II and the ex alumni and teachers’ Association of Giulio Cesare school. The aim is to unite forces and will and to live a great day in the spirit of fun and sport.

With the funds raised by the Race of the Cure, Komen Italia, since 2000 have collected and distributed 3.000.000 € for the realization of 421 projects, their own and for other associations, for the fight against breast cancer. Among them, training courses for  health workers; education programs for the prevention for healthy women and students; clinical services for women’s psycho-physic wellness recover and purchase of diagnosis machines and cure of breast neoplasm.
