Basket B league : LUISS beats Napoli 75-68, a good start!

Despite a roster shake-up, our basketball team picked up where it had left off, winning a game in playoff style: hard, all out and at full throttle in the final period.

In front of a crowded PalaLUISS for the the opening match of regular season, LUISS team, led by coach Paccariè, immediately set the tone of play and eventually defeated a strong and solid Naples side by 75-68. LUISS played coach Pacciariè’s style of game and scored 25 points in the last quarter.

The ref tosses for jump ball and Naples is immediately focused with Guarino and Di Viccaro. The first points of the season for the LUISS side came from a three point shoot by Marcon, who shows a very good shape.

The new center Infante scores from middle range and LUISS takes the lead. players try to take the lead again with Infante who sets the score on 17-12. The first quarter ends with a score of 21-17.

At the beginning of the second quarter, Farafalli scores a three-pointer and gives LUISS a plus -7 but Naples does not lose its poise, continues to find the basket and raises his defense. LUISS hurries a few shots and loses several balls, while the strong duo Milano and Di Viccaro leads the charge for Naples, which rises to 34-28.  Infante and Marcon make a great effort and help their teammates close ranks and close the first half 4 points down: 39-35.
Naples resumes the game playing good basketball and goes up 51-43 mid-way through the third period. With its opponent apparently in control of the match, LUISS is not yet read to bown down and, thanks to the infusion of strength by new-comers Martino, Navarini and Gellera, closes the third period 1 point down: 51-50.

At the beginning of the last quarter, Bonaccorso puts LUISS ahead. Naples responds with middle range shoots. Navarini gives plus 1 with a triple. Bonaccorso still stands out and gives 65-62 to LUISS.

End of game is beautiful, with several scores from all sides. Faragalli places a triple that gives the + 7 LUISS, but immediately Di Viccaro responds from 3. Marcon hits the bucket: 71-65. On the other end of the court Di Viccaro,  beats the buzzer from 8 meters with an incredible triple and Naples returns 3 points down.
The last 3 minutes set both times afire. Infante scores from 3 meters, Bonaccorso recovers the ball and sets up Marcon. Finally, Faragalli scores from the free throw circle closes.

Good win for LUISS, who plays with desperation and come out on top of a difficult fixture against an experienced and well-rounded side like Naples.
