Cinti: a healthy group, ready for great achievements
These days there has been much talk of the gesture of fair play that has seen the protagonist of our football promotion team that, last Sunday, gave a goal to the opponents to remedy a misunderstanding on the field.
The news is well known: the goalkeeper of the Lupa, 2-1 ahead, tries to put the ball in a lateral foul to help a teammate who was left on the ground. But the ball doesn’t come out and one of our strikers, who hasn’t seen the man on the ground, recovers it and bags the ball into the net for the goal of 2-2.
“What matters, however, is the reaction that our team has had: in the head of all of us has never flashed the idea of stealing a point with shortcuts and tricks that do not belong to us.
After a timid but more than justified exultation, all together we decided, on the instructions of Mr. Rambaudi, to allow the opposing team to score a goal,” says Federico Cinti, 21, in his third year in the Faculty of Law, left defender, who since last year has been part of our team.
Anyone who has played football knows that, on the pitch the competitive trance is strong, you run, you scream, you suffer, all to get to 3 points. You’re wrong, you’re arguing, but in the end who has to triumph on the pitch must be loyalty, the ability to stop and understand that it’s a game and the values you believe in must never be questioned.
When Mr. Rambaudi said to give the goal to the opposing team, the response from our boys was immediately positive, because being a student athlete LUISS means having as a priority the ethics not only in sport, but in life.
“The day of Sunday will remain imprinted in the head of each of us forever – concludes Federico -, not only for the ardor that has ignited within us and that will allow us to face every game from here on forward with a different attitude, but especially because it has allowed us to demonstrate once again that all those who are part of LUISS have values and qualities that go beyond those merely technical tactics and I can say that I am proud to be a friend even before that teammate of these guys.
Now head to head on Sunday: we have to go back to winning!
