Volleyball Women, double victory in the championship FIPAV and OPES for the Team Luiss Probios
Sunday, February 27, our Luiss Probios Women’s Volleyball Team took the field against SG Volley Roma Blu for the First Division FIPAV championship. Already from the warm-up we saw grit and desire to bring home a positive result.
During the first set, the girls captained by Debora Di Marco tried to find a balance and an effective tactic to put the opponents in difficulty.
The game remained fairly balanced until the end of the first set, when a series of incisive attacks led AS Luiss to close out the set 25-22.
The second set started immediately with some good turnovers that put the opponent’s reception in trouble. In this part of the set Giovanna Giacobbo made her debut in the role of opposite player, giving a valuable contribution especially with her incisiveness in the wall. So the girls of coach Marra acquire an important advantage that allows the set to close 25-14.
The third set started in the same vein as the second: good play in the middle by Gaia Di Filippo and Olimpia Santucci helped speed up the closing of the match bringing home an important full score victory.
The first match at Palaluiss after the stop of the championship due to Covid ended 3-0.
An important result that confirms the potential of this group full of new elements and always ready to do better.
On Monday, February 28, just one day after the FIPAV match, our girls were back on the court for the OPES championship. The match started immediately with a determined approach to bring home the victory.
The first set saw good team play, with particular attention to the hitting and incisive attacks of the opposite player Maryam Esposito and the bands Flavia Barone and Giulia Buonomini, which helped to close the set in favor of the AS Luiss girls.
From the second set, the girls got into the game with new schemes to try to bring on the field tactical changes, seen in part in training.
This new set-up, together with schemes already established for some time, has brought its fruits contributing to a clear victory that makes us think well for a brilliant continuation in this championship. Excellent was the contribution of the setters Sara Gardusi, Giorgia Glorio and Cristina De Stefano, who have been able to manage the new technical indications at best.
The words of the vice-captain Chiara Castiglione at the end of the match: “Even tonight, we prove to be more united than ever”.
Come on girls, keep it up!
