Swimming, Margherita Panziera: “Gold and records! This result promises well for the World Cup”.
“I didn’t realize that I was going so fast during the race because I charged up to a couple of days ago. My coach told me to do the normal race, I felt good in the water but I didn’t imagine a time like this. These are the first words of Margherita Panziera, author of the new Italian record of 200 women’s backs (2’01″56) during the winter Absolute in short tank in Riccione 2018.
A sensational performance for the Italian who literally crumbled the previous record that belonged to her (2’02″43 at the Olympic review in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2017). A royal race for her, who after the gold she won at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow in the 50-metre swimming pool, is running for a leading role in the next World Championships in Hangzhou (China), scheduled from 11 to 16 December: “This time trial promises well, there are still about ten days and you have to be able to define the last details but if it goes well. Now I’m more sure of myself and this gives me an extra gear, before I did random races and now I’m more lucid because I grew up as a person and as an athlete”.
