Universiade, Italbasket closes with a defeat against the Czech Republic
The experience of the Italian national basketball team at the Universiade of Naples 2019 ends with a defeat. The final race of PalaBarbuto saw the Czech Republic emerge as the winner with a score of 89-67.
From the ball in two to the siren, Italbasket chased its opponents. The few rebounds captured and the many mistakes made have prevented, however, the Azzurri to return to the game.
The k.o. means the twelfth place in the final ranking. A placement that leaves a bit of bitterness in the mouth. In six games, two wins (against Norway and China) and four defeats (against Canada, Germany, Croatia and the Czech Republic) were achieved.
Despite the loot is not very rich, the name of Federico Mussini is among those promoted: author of 20 points in the last match, the Italian top scorer scored 127 in the event, 21.1 on average per game.
The coach’s comment
“From the point of view of the sporting result, experience was not enough. Beyond the final classification, however, the team’s commitment was excellent. Such an international event is fundamental for the growth of our players”.
