Sports Journal Awards: Filippo Tortu is the man of the year.

  • 6 December 2018

Infront Studios in Milan in the evening of December 4 was held the fourth edition of the Gazzetta Sports
Awards, in which the prizes are assigned to Italian Athletes who have distinguished themselves in the past season
by category: Man/Woman of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Athlete
Paralympic of the Year, Performance of the Year, Exploit of the Year, Revelation of the Year, Promise
of the Year, Legends.
Our student-athlete Filippo Tortu triumphed in the most anticipated Man of the Year category,
enrolled in Economics and sprinter, and holder of the Italian record on 100 meters.
Once again the combination of study and sport has triumphed, demonstrating how it can be possible to
undertake a high-level academic course and simultaneously carry out competitive sporting activities.
Possibility that Filippo has grasped through the Dual Carrer option that LUISS, first among the Italian universities,
promotes, assigning scholarships for sporting merits to total or partial coverage of the single contribution
and by providing each athlete with a reference tutor.
As anticipated by Filippo, in the interview at the end of the evening, his next commitments will focus precisely
on the study, having to prepare the examinations for the winter session and, as far as it concerns the
sports programming, training the 60 meters indoor, in view of a long sporting season and university.
