Soccer Promozione: bitter draw against Lupa Frascati

Between arbitral episodes difficult to judge and gusts of cold wind, the home challenge against Lupa Frascati ends 1-1. Ours’ desire to win clashed with a tough and orderly opponent. The result was a match full of competition in which the referee drew four red cards.

In the first half, Mr Rambaudi’s boys managed the dribble, but they didn’t find many outlets. Lupa Frascati has, in fact, perched in defense, not allowing the hosts to create particular threats. Only in one case Luiss reach the goal: De Vincenzi, after skillfully dribbling his own defender, tried a diagonal line that passed a few inches from the pole. The first – boring – 45 minutes closed with inviolate goals. The classic quiet before the storm, anticipated by the expulsion of Lorenzo Pillot at halftime.

In the second part of the game, the guests started with a different attitude: after having wasted a very good chance with Ferri,  Lupa won the penalty kick that unblocked the race. The disadvantage immediately reawakened Luiss, unlucky at a possible penalty in favor not whistled by the referee. A dubious decision that preceded the expulsion for protests of Federico Cinti and, a few minutes later, a second potential penalty not materialized. Then, on the action of corner kick, finally came the draw goal: empty exit of the goalkeeper of the Lupa and winning header of Andrea De Vincenzi. Two other reds (for Alessandro Pillot and Lorenzo Vasari) completed the menu of this turbulent match.

The final 1-1 leaves a bitter taste in the mouth for the way it matured. In addition, the draw costs AS Luiss third place in the standings, now occupied by Atletico Morena.

Alessandro Cuzzocrea commented: “It was a difficult game, the weather conditions were not the best. The wind influenced the course of the match. A mockery the draw? No, it’s a result that can fit in. We’re continuing to work, and we’ll only look at the standings at the end of the season”. The goalkeeper’s words confirm Luiss’s positive and proactive approach, ready to resume the playoff race.
