Basketball B league: Salerno’s triples roll out the Luiss

After a very good first part of the race, Luiss falls on the field of Salerno: she ends 90-70 for the campani.

The challenge with Virtus Arechi was to prove to be a dangerous team against all the big ones. So it was in the first two quarters, very balanced. Dragged by Infante, Marcon and Bonaccorso, the boys of Paccariè play 25′ excellent, before surrendering to the blows of Tortù and Diomede and the triples of Leggio and Maggio.

Well played by our team, the first quarter ended on 24-23 for the hosts. The second one continued in the same way, with the warm hands of the shooters of the two teams. Luiss touches the maximum advantage with +6, but Salerno does not get scared, remembers the defeat of the first round and immediately returns in the wake. The baskets from outside the lectern and May are decisive to close the first half on +2.

At the beginning of the third quarter the show of Bonaccorso, between crushed and impossible triples, brings Luiss to + 4 on 45-49. Our boys, however, lose lucidity and wickedness while Salerno doesn’t miss anything anymore. A May bomb brings the Arechi to +9, before another 3-ball basket widens the gap to 66-54.

As Salerno’s commentator also reminds us: “Be careful, Luiss never gives up”. In fact, a triple of Di Francesco and one of Navarini reduce the gap, on 75-66. But Virtus is implacable for three: in the end there will be 14 out of 28 baskets from outside. In this way the points are accumulated and when the curtain falls the score is 90-70.

A k.o. that can stand us against the third in the standings, but that our boys will want to forget as soon as possible.
