B-series basketball, Luiss Roma ends season by winning salvation
Luiss Roma’s season in Serie B ends, and despite the defeat in Rimini, Paccariè’s boys come out with a half-smile for the great finish and the mathematical salvation conquered with two days to go.
There was hardly a game: Rimini, which finished third in the standings, won 84-66.
Already in the first half the hosts put their foot on the accelerator and ran away 21-12.
The trio Jovovic (28p), Legnini and Murri try to keep Luiss in Luiss’ wake, but Rimini rehearses for the upcoming play offs and closes the first half 37-25.
Rimini continues to grind out baskets while Luiss tries to chase without ever getting back into the game.
The match is enjoyable and there are several winning plays, although the result is not in doubt: final score 84-66.
Thus ends the season of Luiss, which, after a throttled start, manages to produce excellent basketball and becomes a total outsider in the round, alternating excellent victories with defeats due to little badness and some minor inexperience.
A final note of credit for ours: Luiss wins the league award for using junior players on the court for the most minutes added together.
