SPORT FESTIVAL: emotion and show in the Church room

The traditional Sport Festival took place in a festive climate for the season 2017-18, started with the most classic of greetings by General Manager Giovanni Lo Storto, who recalled the importance of the studio-sport binomial and how much the LUISS has invested in these terms:

“LUISS has always had the attention of sports, but this year with the presence of specific programs such as LUISS Sport Academy and the presence of top players like Gregorio Paltrinieri, Giorgio Avola, Chiara Mormile and many others we really achieved the excellence necessary to compete internationally as an Athenaean and as a sports group”.

Following were the contributions from the Predecessor to the Didactics Roberto Pessi, who introduced the LUISS Sport Academy project and that of the LUISS SSD President, Luigi Abete, who, in addition to illustrating the numbers and the sports results achieved during the season 2016-2017 from the various sports disciplines promoted by our University, he proudly stated that he has involved more than 3000 students in the project. In addition, the same President then presented the new partnership signed with EUROSPORT, which in fact will allow us to approach and value how good our athletes do in sporting environments.

To share then the stage with Luigi Ecuba, Senior Director Sport Discovery Italia, there were also the students-athletes winners of the scholarships of the Dual Career program, namely: Tommaso Maestrelli for football, Giorgia Pelacchi, Ludovica Serafini and Matteo Stefanini for rowing, Giorgio Avola and Chiara Mormile for fencing, Angelica Impronta for riding and finally Filippo Tortu for athletics.

In particular, with reference to this latter, they took the floor Antonino Viti, President of ACSI (Association of Italian Sports Centers), who supported the athletics competition, and Manuela Mennea, wife of the great champion was named the scholarship. During the roundtable were also Luca Pancalli, Chairman of the Italian Paralympic Committee, and Niccolò Campriani, a member of the International Olympic Committee.

It was then the turn of SSD LUISS Sports Director Paolo Del Bene, who introduced and thanked the Official Partners AS LUISS as BNL BNP Paribas Group, represented by Dr Anna Boccaccio, Gatorade-Group Pepsi & Co, represented by Dr. Emiliano De Vincenzo, Intesa Sanpaolo, represented by Dr. Pierluigi Monceri, and UnipolSai Assicurazioni, represented by Dr. Alberto Federici, for the contribution made.

To make this day even more festive, it was followed by an archery demonstration that has seen challenging two selections of Italian champions with international palmares such as Galiazzo Marco, Morello Marco, Mandia Claudia, Mandia Massimiliano, Cancelli Giampaolo, Sarti Eleonora, Anastasio Anastasia and Polidori Jacopo. The prizes for the victory of the Lazio Cup of the football team and for the victory in the I edition of the Uniboat Race Roma 2017 by the rowing team, in addition to those of the Captains of the teams of SSD LUISS 2016-2017 and those of the Sports Representatives, have been the last act of a day lived as always in the name of healthy sports and ethical values.
